PITTSBURGH, PA — Plans are advancing for a four-story building containing a concert venue and event space on the city's North Shore.

The Pittsburgh Planning Commission on Tuesday will be briefed on The Factory Creative Arts Center, which has been proposed at the corner of Sandusky and East General Robinson streets. The site currently is the Andy Warhol Museum parking lot.

The building would have a multi-purposes event space and a concert area for up to 906 patrons on the first floor and second floor mezzanine.

Briefing materials submitted to the commission in advance of the meeting did not provide a construction timetable for the project.

The new building will be a significant component of The Pop District, the cultural and economic development project spearheaded by the Warhol Museum. The district is an ambitious undertaking to transform a six-block section of the museum’s neighborhood on the North Shore into a hub for expansive cultural programming, creative workforce development and ultimately a
new and enhanced cultural tourism destination.
