Pittsburgh-Area Weather Warning Issued
The National Weather Service has issued warnings about travel for the Pittsburgh area on Friday.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Traveling will be tricky in Pittsburgh and throughout Western Pennsylvania on Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. for Pittsburgh and Allegheny, Washington and Beaver counties.
Freezing rain is expected, with a light glaze of ice accumulating.

Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday post-holiday travel.
In Pittsburgh, the freezing rain is expected to begin around 11 a.m. and last until at least 6 p.m. Thunderstorms also are possible today.

An ice storm warning is in effect for Armstrong and portions of Westmoreland and Indiana counties from 10 a.m. Friday until 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Significant icing expected is expected in those areas, with ice accumulations between two and three-tenths of an inch.
Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice in those areas. Travel could be nearly impossible.
