New Pittsburgh Restaurant Slapped With Consumer Alert

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Wai Wai Chinese Cuisine on Murray Avenue in Greenfield, for numerous health code violations.
An inspector on Friday found a moldy tomato in the walk-in cooler and an open can of condensed milk on a dry storage shelf with a large mold spot on the surface. A bus tub of fried chicken on the cook line and a colander of grilled chicken resting in a sink basin both were measured at unsafe temperatures.
Other food that had to be discarded included ground raw pork, raw chicken wings, cubed raw beef and grilled chicken. The inspector noted that employees were reluctant to discard the unsafe food.

Knives found stored in a soiled rusty can in the basement prep area had dried food residue on the blades. The food contact surface of the can opener in the basement prep area was heavily soiled with old food residue.
The inspector found "too many house flies to count in the basement, including in the walk-in cooler." Also found in the kitchen was a can of ant and roach spray, as well as a can of bed bug spray.
