New Restaurant Opens In Legendary Pittsburgh Eatery Space

Pittsburgh has a new dining spot on the site of a restaurant that occupied the space for decades. Patch provides the details.

PITTSBURGH, PA — For more than 60 years, Del's was a cornerstone of the dining scene on

Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield. But two restaurants that occupied the space since Del's closed a decade ago had short life spans.

Jabo's Smoque House was in business for about two years before closing in the spring of 2018. Jabo's successor, Sugar and Smoke, closed in 2019 after about a year of operation.

Now another eatery has opened in the space. Camino, a Mexican restaurant, debuted recently and will attempt to have a longer run than the building's previous two occupants.

Operating the restaurant just off of the Bloomfield Bridge are the people behind two other successful Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh - Tocayo in Shadside and Totopo Cocina & Cantina in Mt. Lebanon.

"While our kitchen turns out crowd-pleasing classics like Ensenada-style fish tacos and rich spicy pozole, the party truly ignites at the bar," Camino's website states. "Our house margaritas are next level, and the rest of our cocktail list is a straight-up firework show of fresh, inventive, and spirited drinks."

Camino's hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Sunday.
