Here's a guide to places that are open or closed around Pittsburgh for the New Year's Day holiday.
PITTSBURGH, PA — Many retailers and restaurants will be operating on New Year's Day, but there are closures that could impact your first moments of the new year.
Here's a Patch guide to what is open and closed:
- Government: Pittsburgh and Allegheny County offices, federal government buildings, and courts are closed.
- Package deliveries: Standard FedEx and UPS pickup and delivery services will not be available.
Supermarkets: Giant Eagle stores are open until 5 p.m.; pharmacies will close at 3 p.m. Most Shop 'n Save stores are open but because the stores are independently owned, the specific hours vary by location. Whole Foods also is open but their hours also vary by location. Trader Joe’s and Costco are closed.
