PA Kids Were Tasered, Lived In 'Dungeon': Authorities

A father and mother kept their kids in a feces-smeared room. Patch provides the details.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Fayette County couple is facing criminal charges after authorities said their children were imprisoned in a room that "functioned as a dungeon."

According to court records, James Kahl and Carly Kahl are charged with endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault, attempts to cause injuries with extreme indifference and recklessly endangering another person.

Authorities were called to a home in Redstone Township, Fayette County, following the report of children between the ages of five and 14 living in awful conditions.

WTAE-TV reported that inside the home, troopers say they found boarded up windows, feces covering the walls, fleas, limited food and clothing and no beds.

James Kahl also is accused of forcing Carly Kahl to recently taser one of the kids as a punishment.

A Pennsylvania State Police search at the home on Wednesday revealed a stun gun, replica pistol, surveillance camera, drugs and drug paraphernalia, WPXI-TV reported.

The children currently are in the custody of Children and Youth Services.
