PA Liquor Control Board Selling $7,500 Bottles Of Whiskey

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is holding a sales lottery for extremely rare - and extremely pricey - whiskey brands.

HARRISBURG, PA — Prepare to write a hefty check if you plan to enter the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's limited-release lottery affording registrants the chance to purchase 1,252 bottles of rare whiskeys.

A bottle of Weller Millennium Straight Bourbon will set you back for $7,499; the LCB has 11 bottles available for individual consumers and three for liquor licensees. A bottle of Eagle Rare Double Eagle Very Rare Straight Bourbon (90 proof) can be had for a comparatively cheap amount: $2,999. There are six bottles available for individual consumers and one lone one for licensees.

Not every bottle in the lottery carries such a hefty price tag. Stagg Straight Bourbon Barrel Proof is going for $54.99 a bottle; 729 bottles are available for consumers and 243 can be bought by licensees.

Pennsylvania residents and licensees have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 23 to opt in to one or more of the lotteries and/or drawings by visiting the Limited-Release Lottery web page at FWGS.com.

The event will feature nine products in eight lotteries. Participants may opt in to as many of the lotteries as they want. If a participant wins the right to purchase a bottle in the first drawing, they will be removed from the subsequent drawing in that lottery.

Purchase is limited to one bottle per participant per lottery. Only one entry per household per lottery is allowed; duplicative entries will be disqualified.

Individual consumers and licensees interested in entering one or more lotteries or drawings must have an active account with FWGS.com with billing information on file. Each participant is encouraged to verify that accurate, up-to-date billing information is associated with his or her customer account, to prevent transaction delays or cancellations.
