PA State Police Fatally Shoot Pittsburgh-Area Man

INDIANA COUNTY, PA — Pennsylvania State Troopers fatally shot a man who was shooting at them on Sunday.
At approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, troopers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Dixonville Road in the Village of Deckers Point, Grant Township, to investigate a reported assault.
Responding troopers received information that the assault suspect had fired shots in the area before fleeing into his nearby residence and starting a fire inside. The suspect then climbed onto the roof of the residence and armed with a shotgun fired at troopers.

Troopers returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect. No other injuries were sustained.
The Marion Center Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

The Troop A Major Case Team is investigating this incident. The Indiana County District Attorney’s Office also responded to the scene.
In accordance with standard state police policy, the involved troopers have been placed on administrative duty.
