Pharmacy Chain Closing Dozens More Stores: See PA Locations
A major pharmacy chain will be eliminating dozens of its Pennsylvania stores. Find out here if the one in your community is closing.
PENNSYLVANIA — Rite Aid is closing 68 more locations in seven states as it maneuvers through its second bankruptcy, with the majority of the closures occurring in Pennsylvania. U.S. Bankruptcy Court documents filed Friday indicate 44 Rite Aid stores in the state will be shuttered.
The company, which currently operates 1,240 stores across 15 states, announced on May 5 it had begun bankruptcy proceedings and would start to close and sell its stores. While that process is under way, the company stated that customers still will have pharmacy services available, but prescriptions would be transferred to other pharmacies.

The closings come on the heels of last week's initial announcement that these eight Rite Aid locations in Pennsylvania would be closing:
- 304 Market St. – Harrisburg
- 23 North Elm St. – Kutztown
- 3773 Peters Mountain Rd. – Halifax
- 1039 2nd St. Pike - Richboro
- 843 Rostraver Rd. – Belle Vernon
- 400 West Second St. – Berwick
- Pittsburgh Intl Airport – Pittsburgh
- 209 Atwood St. – Pittsburgh
In addition to the store closures, Rite Aid also is laying off nearly 600 people at its Philadelphia headquarters by June 4. Another 501 people are losing their jobs at a Rite Aid location in Etters, York County.
