Pickup Truck Slams Into 2 Pedestrians In Downtown Pittsburgh

A pickup truck struck two people at a heavily traveled Downtown Pittsburgh intersection Tuesday night.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two pedestrians were injured Tuesday evening when they were struck by a pickup truck in Downtown Pittsburgh. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. and the intersection of Sixth and Centre avenues.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said a 42-year-old man was driving northbound away from Fifth Avenue) when he struck a man and a woman who were crossing the street in the crosswalk. Both were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the truck is believed to have suffered a medical emergency. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The vehicle also struck the BNY Mellon parking garage at the corner of the intersection. The damage to the garage is still being assessed.
