PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the all-time Pittsburgh Pirates great players, Andrew McCutchen, will return to the Bucs for the 2025 season. The team announced his signing on Monday.

The deal is for one year and $5 million, according to multiple reports. It is not surprising, given that McCutchen indicated toward the end of last season he was not ready to retire and the Pirates expressing optimism that he would be back.

McCutchen, 38, returns to the Bucs for his 12th season with the team and 17th season overall in the majors. An 11th-round draft pick in 2005, McCutchen joined the Bucs in 2009 and quickly established himself as the team's best player.
