Pittsburgh Area Could See First Accumulating Snow

Snow soon will fall in the Pittsburgh area. Find out here how much is expected.

PITTSBURGH, PA — While it won't be anywhere near as bad as the snowy winter wallop that has engulfed Erie, the Pittsburgh area soon could get its first snow accumulation of the season.

The National Weather Service said an advancing cold front is expected to return snow and gusty wind to the region Wednesday afternoon through early Friday morning. Snowfall may impact the Thursday morning commute.

At the moment, the predicted accumulations will be on the light side. Less than an inch is forecast for overnight on Wednesday, with less than half an inch expected on Thursday. Wind gusts as high as 30 mph are anticipated Wednesday and Wednesday night.
