Pittsburgh-Area Fugitive Homicide Suspect Nabbed Out Of State

A Pittsburgh-area man charged with homicide last November was arrested Monday by federal authorities.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-area man wanted on homicide charges was apprehended in Maryland, Allegheny County Police said on Monday.

In August of 2024, 911 was notified of a shooting in the 400 block of Pleasant Ridge Road in Stowe. First responders found a man shot. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as James Nelson, 42.

Through witness interviews and surveillance interviews, police were able to accuse Dachary Sampson, 32, with the crime. Sampson faces charges to include criminal homicide, terroristic threats, and simple assault.

Sampson was taken into custody Monday in Bladensburg, Maryland, by the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.
