Pittsburgh-Area Man Causes House Fire That Kills Daughter: Police

Police say a Pittsburgh-area man deliberately set a fire in which his daughter died.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh-area man is in custody after allegedly causing a house fire that resulted in the death of his daughter and the injury of his wife on Sunday.

At 9:54 a.m., Allegheny County 911 was notified of a fire in the 800 block of Corbett Drive in Castle Shannon. First responders found a 19-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene and an injured woman who was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The victim was identified as Lakyn Shelleby.

Police say Brian Shelleby, 46, is facing charges of criminal homicide, aggravated arson, and causing or risking catastrophe. Shelleby is being held in the county jail.

According to police, preliminary information shows that Shelleby intentionally set the blaze.
