Pittsburgh-Area Man Shot Woman In Head: Police
A man is in custody after allegedly shooting a woman in the head in a Pittsburgh suburb last month.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A man faces numerous charges after a woman was shot in the head in Stowe Township last month.
Allegheny County police said Thursday that they have charged John Irwin, 49, of Stowe with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and persons not to possess a firearm.
At 3:15 a.m. on February 18, Stowe Township Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Lamont Street for a reported shooting. They found a woman there suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

The county police homicide unit investigated the shooting and determined through witness interviews that Irwin shot the woman, police said.
Irwin currently is in the county jail pending preliminary arraignment.
