Pittsburgh-Area School Bus Crash: 8 Students & Driver Injured

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA — Eight students and a school bus driver were injured Thursday when a Fort Cherry School District bus crashed in Mount Pleasant Township.
Two of the students had to be flown by helicopter to area hospitals; their condition was unknown Friday morning, as was the driver's condition. The other six students were treated for minor injuries.
According to the school district, the students involved in the accident were Fort Cherry Jr./Sr. High School students who attend the Western Area Career and Technology Center. All were assessed following the crash.

"We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the first responders who arrived quickly at the scene and provided immediate care and assistance," Fort Cherry Superintendent Thomas Samosky said in a district social media post. "Their professionalism and dedication are truly appreciated by our entire school community."
Authorities have not said what caused the crash.
