Pittsburgh-Area Student Threatened Multiple School Districts: Police
Police in a suburban Pittsburgh community have identified the person they say is responsible for threatening at least four school districts.
SHALER TOWNSHIP, PA — Police have identified the person they believe is responsible for a social media post indicating that shootings will occur at various school districts throughout Allegheny County.
She is a Shaler Township Elementary School student, Shaler police said in a statement issued early Thursday. She has admitted to making the threat, police said.
"There is no credibility to this threat and there is no threat to the school districts named or to the community regarding this post," the statement said. "This is an ongoing investigation due to additional social media posts being circulated."

It is unclear if the student is responsible for the threats that prompted the the Butler Area School District to cancel classes on Thursday.
North Hills, Shaler Area, Hampton and Sto-Rox were the districts mentioned in the threatening Snapchat post.

Police did not indicate whether the girl will face criminal charges.
Shaler police said the department and its local law enforcement partners will continue to provide an increased presence at school buildings.
