Pittsburgh-Area Teen Arranged Deadly Shooting From Jail: Police

A Pittsburgh-area teen is accused of setting up a fatal shooting while lodged in the Allegheny County Jail.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A teen is accused of helping to arrange a deadly shooting in October while he already was in jail on another homicide charge.

Allegheny County police on Tuesday said that John Perry, 18, and Daemond Artemus, 17, have been charged in connection with the death of Niejah Hill, 23.

On Oct. 4, police responded to a reported shooting at a residence in the 1000 block of Orchard Park Avenue in Duquesne. First responders found Hill dead at the scene and a man with a gunshot wound.

Police said investigators determined that Perry entered the residence through an unlocked window and fired multiple gunshots at the victims. Perry conspired with Artemus to target the man who was wounded, according to police.

The unidentified man was scheduled to testify against Artemus in a case involving a September shooting in which Artemus allegedly killed a man and dumped his body onto a street in McKeesport.
