Pittsburgh-Area Teen Shot In Head: Latest Info
A teen appeared to have been targeted in a Pittsburgh-area community on Tuesday, authorities said.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A teen was flown by helicopter to UPMC Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville Tuesday after being shot in the head.
The incident occurred in Monessen, Westmoreland County, in the 200 block of Linden Avenue near Rostraver Street.
Police responding to reports of shots being fired found the 16-year-old wounded in the head. He was alert and conscious, Monessen Police Chief David Yuhasz told multiple media outlets.

The teen reportedly was in a vehicle with two other people when he was shot. No other injuries were reported. Police said the shooting appeared to be a targeted one.
The victim's condition was not immediately available on Wednesday morning.

The Monessen City School District issued a statement that it will operate on a Flexible Instruction
Day today "due to an ongoing incident that occurred in town this evening."
It could not be determined if the teen is a Monessen district student.
