"His food—like the scallop crudo with fermented apples, turnips, white balsamic, toasted

on patience and humility."

  • Regarding Hobart:

"In 2015, he became chef de cuisine and partner at Morcilla, where he helped write the first menus and slowly assumed creative control," the website stated.

"Over nearly a decade, he’s guided the restaurant through growth, good press, and pandemic pivots, all while keeping its ethos grounded in collaboration and local sourcing. Now, Hobart is focused on keeping Morcilla steady, seasonal, and deeply connected to its team and community."

  • Regarding Ogrodnik:

"What began as a taco stand evolved into a full-service restaurant—inspired by Mexico City— where diners could experience language and culinary immersion concurrently. At Duo's, Ogrodnik
showcases her work by composing thoughtful and spirited Mexican dishes rooted in traditional techniques and flavors, like her enchiladas de pavo with mole de xico, crema, queso fresco, and onion."

  • Regarding the Mariettis:

"In 2017, they opened the first De Fer Coffee & Tea in the Strip, District. Four years later, they opened their second and third locations. Now, with five locations across Pittsburgh, the Mariettis have curated comfortable, inviting third spaces for guests with thoughtfully roasted coffees and a small selection of sandwiches and pastries."

  • Regarding Dillman, Gordon and Taylor:

"The trio is focused on growing their team and looking to the future, with the goal of expanding the Old Thunder brand beyond Southwestern Pennsylvania."
