Pittsburgh Coffee Shop Chain Expanding

A popular Pittsburgh coffee shop chain is preparing to open a new location.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A notable Pittsburgh coffee shop chain is adding a location in the heart of the city's medical and university community.

La Prima Espresso Co. soon will open its fifth cafe at 3400 Fifth Avenue in Oakland next to Sciulli's Pizza.

"Our doors will be opening soon, so stay tuned for updates. We can’t wait to welcome you," a post on the coffee shop's Facebook page stated.

According to La Prima Espresso's website, Sam Patti founded the company in 1988 to sell and service commercial espresso machines from his showroom in the Strip District. The showroom quickly evolved into a full-service espresso bar.

The company roasts more than 20 varieties of coffee and sells espresso and coffee to cafes, markets, restaurants and businesses across the country.

La Primo Espresso Co.'s other locations are on 21st Street in the Strip District; in the AC Hotel on Smallman Street, Downtown; in Wean Hall on the Carnegie Mellon University campus and on Chateau Street in Manchester.
