Pittsburgh Grocery Store Abruptly Closes
A Pittsburgh grocery store has shut down without warning. Get the details here.
PITTSBURGH, PA — After nearly a decade in operation, one of the few places in Downtown Pittsburgh to buy a limited amount of food and beverages has closed.
Market St. Grocery in Market Square closed on Feb. 27, according to the market's Instagram page.
"After 9 years and 10 months, to the day, Market St. Grocery’s journey is coming to an end," a post on the page stated.

But the owners hinted at future plans for the building the grocey occupies.
"We’ve pivoted many times (who remembers pandemic grocery videos?), but this time, it’s time to close, retool, and figure out what’s next for this space," the post stated. "Thank you for your support. We’ll see you soon."

The closure comes just two weeks after another nearby inner city grocery, Salem's Market on Centre Avenue in the Hill District, announced that it was "pausing operations" just a year after it opened in a former Shop n' Save.
