Pittsburgh To Honor Comedic Actor Martin Lawrence

PITTSBURGH, PA — Comedian Martin Lawrence is coming to town on Friday, and Pittsburgh will have a day honoring him.

Aug. 2 wiil be proclaimed "Martin Lawrence Day" in the city by Mayor Ed Gainey, city officials announced Wednesday.

In a social media post, the city termed Lawrence "a brilliant comedic actor who has made significant contributions to the film and entertainment industry."

The release continued: "From his early start hosting 'Def Comedy Jam' and starring in the original sitcom "Martin," to bringing us the Bad Boys franchise, Martin without a doubt has solidified his legacy as one of the greats of his craft."
