Pittsburgh School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Pittsburgh is August 28 for grades 1-9 and 12, August 29 for grades 10-11 and August 31 for kindergarten. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The PATCH Pittsburgh Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

August

• 8/28: First Day of School for All Grades Except Kindergarten, grades 10 & 11
• 8/28 - 8/30: Kindergarten Assessments
• 8/29: First Day of School for Grades 10 & 11
• 10/31: First Day of Kindergarten

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/15: Early Dismissal (Half Day Teacher PD)
• 9/21: No School

October

• 10/13: Early Dismissal (Half Day Teacher PD)
• 10/16: No School for 6-12, High School and Special Schools; Parent Teacher Conferences
• 10/20: No School for Early Childhood, PreK-5, PreK-8, 6-8 Schools; Parent Teacher Conferences

November

• 11/7: No School (Election Day)
• 11/10: No School (Veteran's Day)
• 11/16: Report Cards
• 11/17: Early Dismissal (Half Day Teacher PD)
• 11/23 - 11/27: No School (thanksgiving Vacation)

December

• 12/8: Early Dismissal (Half Day Teacher PD)
• 12/25 - 12/29: No School (Winter Vacation)

January
