Pittsburgh Snow Accumulation Forecast Rises, Warning Issued

More snow apparently is on the way for the Pittsburgh area than originally anticipated. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Pittsburgh metro area, which means more snow accumulation is expected than was anticipated when the region was on a previous Winter Weather Advisory.

The storm warning, which is in effect until 1 p.m. on Sunday, now calls for total accumulations of as much as seven inches.

The record snowfall for Pittsburgh for Dec. 13 is 5.6 inches. The weather service has warned on social media that the record is in jeopardy.

The weather service warns that travel tonight could be very difficult. Snow recently was reported to be falling at one-half to three-quarters of an hour in the Pittsburgh area.
