Pittsburgh Social Club Shut Down By Health Department

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of the House of Drinking & Doubin (also known as the Southside Veterans Association) on Sidney Street in the South Side.
An inspection last week revealed that the social club was operating without a valid health department permit.
An unapproved cooking area was discovered and no required chlorine sanitizer was present.

An unapproved portable handwashing station was found in an entertainment area.
Black and brown build-up was present in an unused beer cooler. Another beer cooler behind the bar contained moldy and stagnant water.

The "closed" placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.
