Steelers Lose Key Player For The Season
The Steelers defeated the Atlanta Falcons 18-10, but the win has proven costly. Patch provides the details here.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers felt they had significantly upgraded their kicking game when they signed free agent punter Cameron Johnston to a three-year contract in April to replace the inconsistent Pressley Harvin III.
They will be looking for another new punter this week, as the knee injury Johnston suffered during the Steelers' 18-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday is season ending.
Johnston's injury, which forced kicker Chris Boswell to boot the Steelers' final punt of the victory, was described by coach Mike Tomlin immediately after the game as "serious."

The Steelers reportedly will not bring back Harvin but are signing another of their former punters. Per NFL's Tom Pelissero, the team is signing Corliss Waitman to replace Johnston. Waitman punted for the team for two games in 2021 and was the Broncos punter in 2022. He was with the Chicago Bears this past offseason but did not make the team.
Tomlin is expected to officially address the punting situation at his weekly news conference on Tuesday.
