Pittsburgh Street Sweeping Ticketing Goes High-Tech
Pittsburgh has upgraded its technology for ticketing people who don't obey parking restrictions on a street's sweeping day.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Parking Authority will debut automated enforcement technology to enhance parking restrictions compliance for this year's street sweeping season that begins April 1.
The automated enforcement system will utilize smart cameras on authority vehicles to collect license plate data from cars parked on streets set to receive street sweeping. Any parking violation tickets that are issued as a part of this process will be delivered by mail.
The street sweeping program will continue through Nov. 30. City official encourage people to check street signs on their block for scheduled sweeping times and parking restrictions. The Department of Public Works provides different levels of service based on street type and usage, with business districts and main corridors receiving more frequent sweeping than residential areas.
