Pittsburgh TV News Personality Going On Medical Leave

A prominent Pittsburgh TV news personality gives a candid admission about her health.

PITTSBURGH, PA — KDKA-TV news personality Heather Abraham will be off the air in the new year on medical leave.

Abraham will be absent from "Pittsburgh Today Live" and "Talk Pittsburgh" for about six weeks. She announced in a social media post that she is having a hysterectomy.

"My quality of life is going to drastically improve," she stated. "I also know recovery can be quite brutal the first couple of weeks."

Abraham asked for advice or tips before and after her upcoming surgery from women who have previously undergone the procedure.

A Shaler native, Abraham has been with KDKA since 2010. She studied broadcast news at West Virginia University and also worked at News 12 Brooklyn, a 24-hour cable news station in New York City.
