Pittsburgh Under Threat Of Severe Storms, Isolated Tornadoes

Pittsburgh and much of Western Pennsylvania could see a round of heavy weather on Tuesday. Find out here when it's expected to arrive.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The severe storm threat returns to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The National Weather Service says storms will hit the area between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The main hazard is expected to be damaging wind, though isolated tornadoes and large hail are also possible. In addition, locally heavy rainfall could result in localized flooding, especially for areas that see multiple thunderstorms.

The weather service expanded its largest threat area early on Tuesday, with the best chance of severe storms north of Interstate 70.

The chances of storms remain in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, although they are not expected to be severe.

Cooler weather is arriving following today's precipitation. Tuesday's high temperature will be 86 today but temperatures are only expected to rise to the mid- to upper 70s on Wednesday. A return to the low 80s is forecast for Thursday.
