PITTSBURGH, PA — The Extreme Heat Warning for the Pittsburgh area has expired, but a heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. on Friday.

The National Weather Service expects heat index values up to 100 degrees.

Heat indices are expected to peak between 12 p.m.- 6 p.m.

There also is a risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The main hazard is expected to be damaging wind gusts. In addition, locally heavy rainfall could result in localized flash flooding.
