Man Charged After Pirates Fan Falls Onto Field During Pirates Game
A person is facing criminal charges in connection with the nearly deadly fan fall at PNC Park last month.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man has been criminally charged with providing alcohol to a friend who fell from the outfield stands and onto the field at PNC Park during a Pirates game last month.
Ethan Kirkwood, 21, of McKeesport, was arrested Tuesday and charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 23, according to court documents.
Kevan Markwood, 20, was critically injured after falling from the top of the 21-foot-high Clemente Wall during a game between the Pirates and the Chicago Cubs.

Kirkwood has admitted to buying alcohol for Markwood at the stadium, WTAE-TV reported.
According to a criminal complaint, surveillance video from the ballpark showed Kirkrwood purchasing two 24-ounce beers. Another video showed Kirkwood and Markwood together each with a beer.

Markwood's fall occurred during the seventh inning of the Pirates game against the Cubs. The game was paused for about five minutes while emergency crews responded to the scene.
Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the fall was accidental.
Markwood is a 2022 graduate of South Allegheny High School.
