Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant Slapped With Consumer Alert

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for a well-known Pittsburgh restaurant.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for Lucca Ristorante & Wine Bar, on South Craig Street in Oakland, for numerous health code violations.

A recent inspection revealed a live mouse on a glue board next to a walk-in cooler. A dead and decomposing mouse was found.

There were mouse droppings, too many to count, in the corner of the wine room and the floor of an adjoining storage space. Mouse droppings also were found in the staff restroom.

Numerous fruit flies were observed.

An active ceiling leak behind the bar contaminated bottles of liquor.

A restaurant with a consumer alert placard is allowed to operate for a temporary period not exceeding 10 days. Another inspection is conducted either prior to the expiration of the temporary period upon request of the eatery owner or on the tenth day.
