Popular Pittsburgh Restaurant Announces Closure

Next week will be the last week for a trendy Pittsburgh eatery.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A popular oyster bar and chowder house will close forever next week.

Merchant Oyster Company on Butler Street in Lawrenceville stated in a Facebook post that its last day of operation will be Dec. 4.

"This wasn't easy, but we're endlessly grateful for the memories, laughter, and love you've shared over the last seven years," the post stated.

"To our amazing guests and team, thank you for making this journey unforgettable. We hope you'll join us before our final service to celebrate all the good times together."

The restaurant has announced what it calls a "Last Shucking Good Time" on Dec. 4 from 5:30 p.m. until "whenever we make you walk the plank."
