Premier Pittsburgh Dining Spot Abruptly Closes

One of the city's fine dining spots has suddenly shut its doors. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the city's gourmet dining spots has gone out of business. 40 North restaurant and bar on the city's North Side, which garnered a sterling national reputation in its brief run, shut down on Sunday.

Chef Bethany Zozula, who operated the restaurant, made the closure announcement on social media.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the news that on Sunday, at around 5 p.m., 40 North closed its doors," Zozula said in a Facebook post. "On behalf of myself and the other former employees, I want to thank everyone for their support over the last three years. We loved feeding and serving you."

In 2022, Zozula was a semifinalist for the James Beard Awards, which sometimes are referred to as the Oscars of the culinary world. Widely regarded as the food industry's highest honor,the Beard Awards are designed to recognize those who are making America's food culture more diverse

and sustainable.
