Revered Pittsburgh Pizza Chain's Expansion Plans Take Off

FINDLAY TOWNSHIP, PA — Mineo's Pizza House, a nationally recognized local pizza chain with three locations, is about to add a fourth. Next spring, a Mineo's bar and restaurant will open at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The airport and pizza chain jointly announced the news Wednesday.

"It’s an exciting time for the region with the new terminal opening next year, and we are proud to be a part of it," Gio Mineo told the airport website Blue Sky News."We are looking forward to introducing our award-winning pizza to the millions of first-time visitors to Pittsburgh.

Said John Brennan, the airport's Director of Commercial Program Development: “Pittsburgh International Airport’s new terminal is for Pittsburgh by Pittsburghers. Sense of place is important, and nothing reinforces that idea more than the airport adding one of Pittsburgh’s most beloved and iconic brands to our concession offerings.”

Founded by Sicilian immigrant John Mineo, Mineo's Pizza House has been a staple on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill since 1958. Mineo's other locations are in Mt. Lebanon and Allison Park.

Mineo's has won numerous local awards and also has garnered national attention. In July, The New York Times included it on a list of 15 of its reader's favorite pizza places around the world. The food website Tasting Table once named it Pennsylvania's best pizza.

Mineo's pizza is so popular that the chain has a link on its website for its pies to be shipped overnight to any place in the country.
