Severe Storms A Possibility In Pittsburgh Area

The National Weather Service is warning that severe storms could be on the way for Pittsburgh. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The National Weather Service says there will be a threat of severe storms developing in the Pittsburgh area later on Thursday.

There is the risk of storms developing that contain damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rain.

Storms are unlikely before 8 p.m. According to the weather service, the best chance for potentially severe weather will occur from 9 p.m. tonight through 2 a.m. on Friday.

Much of today will be sunny and hot, with a projected high temperature of 92. But the chance of storms developing will linger into the early part of the weekend. There is a 90 percent chance of storms on Friday and an 80 percent chance on Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night.

Sunday promises to have better weather, with sunny skies and a projected high of near 90.
