Severe Storms, Tornadoes Possible For Pittsburgh Area

The National Weather Service is warning of hazardous weather for Pittsburgh on Monday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — More severe weather is possible today for the Pittsburgh area and Western Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service says the potential exists for significant storms producing winds of 75 mph and hail of at least two inches in diameter. Heavy rains could lead to localized flash flooding.

Isolated tornadoes also are possible.

The entire Western Pennsylvania area is under that risk from 2 p.m.-10 p.m., the weather service says.

The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight, mainly before 1 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

For Tuesday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high in the mid-70s.
