Steelers Make Blockbuster Trade For Seahawks WR DK Metcalf

The Steelers made one of the biggest trades in team history on Sunday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers addressed their glaring need at wide receiver on Sunday, agreeing to acquire DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in one of the most significant trades in team history.

In return, the Steelers will send the Seahawks their second-round pick in April's NFL Draft and the teams will swap sixth- and seventh-round selections in this year's draft, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Additionally, Metcalf has agreed to a five-year, $150 million contract with the Steelers, the richest deal in team history.

The trade has not yet been officially announced by the teams and likely will not be until the new NFL year begins on Wednesday.

Metcalf will pair with George Pickens to give the Steelers a formidable one-two punch at wide receiver if the Steelers decide to keep the talented but troubled Pickens, who has had on and off the field issues. Last year, Metcalf had 66 receptions, 992 receiving yards and a career-low five touchdowns.

Metcalf, 27, was the Seahwaks second-round pick in 2019. He had requested a trade last week as he entered the final year of a contract that was to have paid him $18 million.

Now that the Steelers have addressed the wide receiver position, they likely will turn their attention to quarterback. Team officials have said they would like to bring back either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson, both of whom started at the position last year and both of whom currently are free agents. Wilson and Metcalf once were teammates in Seattle.
