Steelers Make Significant Trade Deadline Acquisition

The Steelers have added depth to a particular roster position. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers bolstered their wide receiving corps Tuesday as the NFL trade deadline approached by acquiring Mike Williams from the New York Jets. The Steelers gave up a fifth-round pick to obtain the former starter for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Williams could complement Steelers starting wide receiver George Pickens, who has drawn the attention of opposing defenses since the team traded wide receive Dionte Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in the offseason.

However, Williams' numbers with the Jets have been nondescript this season. In nine games, he had only 12 catches for 166 yards and no touchdowns.

The veteran Williams, 30, could be just a rental player for the Steelers, who face the Washington Commanders on Sunday. His contract expires at the end of the season and he will become a free agent.
