PITTSBURGH, PA — "I'm open to everything and attached to nothing."

That's how Aaron Rodgers, the man the Steelers have been pursuing to be their starting quarterback for 2025, addressed his situation for the upcoming season Thursday during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on ESPN.

Rodgers' indecision on whether to play for the Steelers, or play at all at the age of 41, has been a growing source of frustration for fans of the team. Some of them want Rodgers behind center, some of them do not, but most appear to be universally united in their desire for the indecisive and enigmatic quarterback to finally make up his mind.

When McAffee asked Rodgers - who has also discussed his playing situation with the Minnesota Vikings - if the Steelers would be his choice if he decides to play next season, the quarterback demurred.

"I am trying to be open to everything and not specifically attached to anything when it comes to this decision. I'm not holding anybody hostage, I really want to emphasize that," Rodgers said. "I'm just going through a lot in my personal life that has to take precedent at this point. Because, that's a big commitment and when the commitment is made it has to be an all-in type commitment."

Rodgers' continued indecision could force the Steelers to reach for a quarterback in next week's NFL Draft. The only QBs they currently have on the roster are Mason Rudolph - a career backup with the Steelers and Tennessee Titans - and Skylar Thompson, who finished 2024 on the Miami Dolphins practice squad.
