Steelers Soon To Sport New Helmet Design: Report
The Steelers occasionally might be ditching their black helmets for an alternative design. Get the details here.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers apparently are among five NFL teams that all will debut new alternate helmet designs this summer.
Details are scarce, but SportsLogos.Net reported Tuesday that the Steelers and the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders all will unveil new helmet designs. Since the NFL began allowing teams to have a second shell to pair with alternate uniforms in 2022, 24 of 32 teams have adopted one, according to CBS Sports.
Sports Logos suggested that the Steelers could revive the gold helmets they wore from the team's inception in 1933 through the 1962 season, as well as for throwback games from 2007-10. They presumably would wear them with their Color Rush uniforms which are similar to the throwback uniforms but featured white pants.
