Storied Pittsburgh Sports Bar Closing After 30 Years
One of Pittsburgh's most popular sports bars is closing its doors permanently.
PITTSBURGH, PA — An era is ending.
For the past 30 years, Redbeard's Sports Bar & Grill on Mt. Washington has been a go-to destination to grab a burger and beer and watch whatever game is on one of their many TVs. Located on Shiloh Street a block from the Monongahela Incline, it has drawn a bustling, diverse crowd.
That crowd soon will have to watch the big games elsewhere. Owner Len Semplice said he is closing the bar; its last day will be Dec. 21.

"This is a sad day," Semplice said. "The Mt. Washington community has been our family and we have grown together over the years.
"I want to thank all our loyal customers from the mount and all around Western Pennsylvania, as well as the hundreds of tourists that made that ride up the incline to enjoy our establishment - whether it was to watch their favorite sports team play or enjoy dinner and drinks while listening to acoustics on the patio."

Semplice said Redbeard's other location on Sixth Street, Downtown, a Cultural District staple for more than a decade, will remain open.
