Supercross In Pittsburgh: What You Need To Know

PITTSBURGH, PA — For the firsttime in four decades, some of the world's premier two-wheel racers will be in Pittsburgh for a Supercross event on Saturday at Acrisure Stadium.

Even though the sport has been around for 50 years, Supercross has only been staged in Pittsburgh twice - in 1978 and 1983 at the long-gone Three Rivers Stadium. That makes Acrisure a first-time Supercross venue.

For the uninitiated, Supercross is an indoor dirt bike racing championship – a newer version of motocross, the sport's original form. But while motocross takes place on long courses built primarily on dirt and natural terrain, Supercross race courses are made from dirt hauled into stadiums.

Here's what you need to know about Saturday's event.

Event Schedule

Parking lots and the ticket office open at 10 a.m.

Gate A-East and Heinz Gate C open at 12 p.m.

FanFest begins at 12 p.m.

Qualifiers begin at 12 p.m.

Remaining event gates open at 6 p.m.

Opening ceremonies occur at 6:30 p.m.

Final races begin at 7 p.m.

Trophy presentation occurs at 10 p.m.

FanFest

A FanFest ticket gains fans admission to see the event's riders as they prepare, practice and qualify for the races. Fans can meet riders, see the bikes up close, interact with sponsor displays and watch exclusive entertainment before the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Race.

FanFest tickets must be accompanied by an event ticket. The Monster Energy Supercross FanFest is a pre-race event taking place prior to the main event. Ages 2 and up require a ticket. In lieu of a FanFest ticket, guests can bring an empty Monster Energy can plus an event ticket to gain admittance.

Fans are encouraged to use North Shore parking lots, including the Champions Garage located behind the Hyatt Hotel--a cashless lot that fans can pre-purchase through the Park Mobile App.
