Suspect In Pittsburgh-Area Woman's Disappearance And Death Found Dead

A man expected to be charged in the disappearance of Amy Shipley of Ligonier was found dead Thursday, authorities said.

LIGONIER, PA — A suspect in the disappearance of a Ligonier woman who had gone missing and was found dead Tuesday himself was discovered dead on Thursday. Roger Angelo, 47, died of self-inflicted wounds, according to the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office.

The district attorney's office said in a statement that Angelo was expected to be criminally charged in the disappearance of Amy Shipley, 45. She is believed to have died in her home on Sept. 8; her body was found in a makeshift grave on a property on Helen's Lane in Cook Township.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday. The cause and manner of death have not been disclosed.

Shipley was last seen Sept. 8 near the home she and Angelo shared. She was reported missing on Sept. 13.
