Suspected Charged In Pittsburgh Teen's Shooting Death

PITTSBURGH, PA — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting death Thursday of a 17-year-old teen in the city's Knoxville section.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said police were dispatched to the 100 block of Rochelle Street for a ShotSpotter alert, followed by a 911 call at 1:09 p.m.

Arriving officers found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound inside a residence. Officers rendered life-saving aid to him, but he was pronounced dead by medics a short time later.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Tyrome Gatewood Jr. of Carrick.

Police arrested Khyree Harper, 17, of Pittsburgh, in connection with the shooting. He is being charged with criminal homicide and possession of a firearm by a minor.
