The storms were triggered by a strong cold front that brought an end to the mild temperatures the area experienced earlier in the week. Temperatures today are expected to remain steady in the upper 30s, with light snow possible tonight and Friday morning.

No significant accumulation is expected in the Pittsburgh area. However, a winter storm warning has been issued for eastern Westmoreland County, with accumulations of 6-12 inches between today and Saturday.
