Troubled Pharmacy Chain Transfers More Pittsburgh Prescriptions

PITTSBURGH, PA — In the latest round of Rite Aid store closures, Giant Eagle will assume prescriptions from 15 more locations in southwestern and central Pennsylvania.

The transfers began Tuesday and will occur over the next several days.

Rite Aid declared bankruptcy for the second time in two years last month and is closing its stores and liquidating its assets.

The locations transferring prescriptions, according to Giant Eagle:

Rite Aid: 407 Central Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15902 transfers to Goucher Street Giant Eagle Pharmacy 344 Goucher Street, Johnstown, PA 15905 on June 24.

Rite Aid: 135 South Market Street, New Wilmington, PA 16142 transfers to Wilmington Road Giant Eagle Pharmacy 3230 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 on June 24.

Rite Aid: 100 Franklin Street, Mercer, PA 16137 transfers to Wilmington Road Giant Eagle Pharmacy 3230 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 on June 24.

Rite Aid: 503 Clifton Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 transfers to McMurray Market District Express Pharmacy 2840 Washington Road, McMurray, PA on June 24.
