Trump Campaigns For Rick Saccone in Moon Township, PA: Watch

President Donald Trump will appeared at a rally in support of Rick Saccone in Moon Township on Saturday.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — President Donald Trump was in Moon Township on Saturday night rallying voters in support of Rick Saccone, the Republican candidate in the special election for Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District.

The special election is to replace Rep. Tim Murphy, a strict pro-life congressman who resigned in October after news reports that he had encouraged a woman with whom he had an extramarital affair to abort her pregnancy.

President Trump formally endorsed Saccone in the special election in January. White House counselor Kellyanne Conway campaigned for Saccone ahead of Trump, charging that even a single vote could affect Trump's policy agenda on Capitol Hill. After Trump's appearance on Saturday, his son, Donald Trump Jr., will campaign for Sacconne on the eve of the election on Monday.

Saccone faces Democrat Conor Lamb, a 33-year-old Marine veteran and assistant U.S. attorney in the special election on March 13. Former Vice President Joe Biden campaigned on Lamb's behalf earlier in the week.

The high-profile reinforcements from the president's orbit were welcomed by Saccone, a 60-year-old state representative, who has wholeheartedly embraced Trump throughout his campaign. Trump carried the region by nearly 20 percentage points in 2016. Yet with the election just days away, polls suggest that Saccone is essentially tied with Lamb.

In a Tweet on Saturday, Trump said Saccone is a "really good person" who will help him a lot.
