PITTSBURGH, PA — President Donald Trump will be back in Pittsburgh next month to appear at the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit at Carnegie Mellon University.

U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick's office announced on Friday that the summit will occur on July 15. It will bring together leaders in energy and AI and with investors, labor and trades leaders, and government officials focused on the advancing AI technology.

“There’s no question that the path to American energy dominance runs directly through Pennsylvania, and this summit will celebrate all our commonwealth has to offer,” McCormick said in a statement.

The move was announced amid plans for a nationwide protest against the president, who has scheduled a military parade typical of dictatorships in Washington on Saturday. The event coincides with Trump's 79th birthday.

The move also arrives just days after Amazon announced plans spend at least $20 billion to set up multiple high-tech cloud computing and artificial intelligence innovation campuses across the state. It's the largest capital investment in Pennsylvania history.

The deal, announced Monday by Gov. Josh Shapiro, is expected to create at least 1,250 jobs. The first campuses will be in Salem Township in Luzerne County and in Bucks County in Falls Township. Other communities will be identified later.
